A fantastic review of Me, Suzy P by blogger Petty Witter at her Pen and Paper blog here

She says it’s one of her favourite reads of 2012! Thank you, Petty, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Postcards from The Frankfurt Book Fair

10 Oct

I got sent a photo of the Templar stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair today. Check this out! It’s my book cover. Only MASSIVE.

How exciting is that? I’m pondering getting one for the front garden.

Bath Festival of Children’s Literature

2 Oct

Last Friday, the fifth Bath Festival of Children’s Literature kicked off in spectacular style. I was in the audience for the opening night gala, which featured Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler in conversation. It was fascinating hearing them talk about their books over the years, their partnership, and how they worked together. Plus we got to see a sneak preview of the televised version of Room on the Broom. The cherry on the cake was being lucky enough to get my copy of The Gruffalo’s Child signed by them both, which I was horribly excited about (well, I say my copy. It’s actually Tornado Toddler’s copy. I hope he appreciates it).

I love the Kids Lit Fest. I’ve been involved right from the beginning, and was on the management committee that worked under the current directors, helping to get it established. The line-ups are always fantastic, and the buzz around the events is a wonderous thing. Plus, it’s great to see so many kids getting excited about books.

2012 has another great line-up. Still to appear are Anthony Horowitz, Sarra Manning, Moira Young, Sally Gardner, Michael Morpurgo, Tony Ross and Jez Alborough amongst others. I’d also personally recommend the MA Writing for Young People event, held on Wednesday 3rd October. As a graduate of this course, I think it’s a great way to hear other people’s stories and their journeys towards getting published.

New Headshots

1 Oct

My last head shots were done quite a while ago now, so I decided it was time for some new ones. My friend, Neil from Neil Griffiths Photography, did these ones for me. He was given just one instruction: Don’t make me look like a gremlin. And I think he’s succeeded (even if I do say so myself).

Neil’s a fantastic photographer, and wedding, baby and family portraits are his specialties, so give him a shout if you need a photographer. His website is here.
