About me

I’m a writer for children and teenagers. I’ve written a lot of books, on all sorts of things. Things like mermaids, fairies, cars, teenagers, princesses and super heroes, plus heaps of other subjects I’ve probably forgotten.

Ten Facts About Me:

1. I’m a walking disaster area and completely accident prone. My nose got broken in a tickling fight and my toe got broken while I ranted about waffles. While I was seven months pregnant, my arm ended up in a plaster cast after an incident opening a window.

2. My favourite words are eclectic and catkin.

3. I’m still waiting to grow. I aspire one day to reach the dizzy heights of 5’2″.

4. I can quote far too many lines from Friends and am freakishly good at remembering song lyrics. I’m sure this part of my brain could be doing much more useful things.

5. I’ve done a heap of random jobs. These include making and stuffing 500 crackers full of beauty products, selling Christmas hampers, writing copy for a mail order catalogue, a lot of telephone answering, and covering hundreds of library books with sticky-backed plastic. I’ve been a teacher, a researcher, and worked in PR.

6. I’m told my current celebrity lookalike is Tina Fey. When I was at school, it was Christina Ricci as Wednesday in The Addams Family. At university, it was the twins from B*witched. (Google them. I couldn’t wear dark denim for years)

7. My favourite number is four. Even numbers are better than odd. Just because, okay?

8. My eyes change colour. Some days they’re brown, some days they’re green, and sometimes they’re hazel.

9. The one and only time I went skiing, I got stuck in a snowdrift trying to take a short cut, and had to be pulled out by the ski instructor.

10. My party trick is the ability to fluently mirror write. I would show you, but it doesn’t really work on a keyboard.

I often get asked to give information for people’s book reports. It’s SUPER lovely to hear from you, but please understand I have to be quite careful about giving out personal information online. But if you do need to know more about me, I’m in my forties, I live in the South West of England, and I’ve got two sons. Hope that helps! Keep reading!

I’ve read all books of Suzy P. in English but also in my own language: Dutch, it’s called Suzy D. in Dutch and the names are a bit different sometimes. But I really loved all books. Right now I have to read a book for my English lessons at school. Immediately I filled in: Me, Suzy P. because I really love it. I’m making a blurb right now, because I have to do that to. And I needed some information about you, well I have enough right now thank you so much for writing all this information about you !

    Dear Karen,

All the way from the Netherlands a quick questions for you! My daughter loves your books and soon she will have a book review about Suzy D. We spend a lot of time searching for information about you, but we can’t find your age and how many children you have.

It would be fantastic to be the first in Holland to have new information about you!  Would you be so kind to share this with us? Thank you and please keep writting! Your books are really good!

    Kind regards,

    Jowita and Dominique Koopmann
